Just boots up the same with the same software installs, boot routine, etc. I simply want to clone C and swap it out for the old drive so when the computer boots up it has no idea I swapped it out. Note: If your destination disk is not free of data, you will be prompted with a pop-up window stating The destination hard disk drive you have chosen contains. I then removed the allocation and tried again thinking maybe acronis needs to see the drive unformatted so it can do the format/mount itself and will add it to the list of destination drives that would be selectable. I formatted the drive and wrote files to it to test it. The empty drive shows up in the destination list but is grayed out like the rest of the drives as a choice to copy to. First I thout it was because I didn’t mount or format the drive. I can’t select any of them and the next button is grayed out. I select the source drive and then when I am allowed to select the destination drive all the drives are grayed out. To solve this, you can contact WD support to download a special. Then I download acronis true image software. If you are using Acronis True Image or Acronis Backup & Recovery, check if the disks are detected in file/folder backup (or My Data in Acronis True Image Home 2010, or File backup in Acronis True Image Home 2011) as opposed to full disk/partition backup mode (or My Computer in Acronis True Image Home 2010, or Disk and partition backup in Acronis. For the Acronis True Image WD Edition not clone issue, that’s because your WD SSD is connected via a USB cable so it cannot be found by the software. It has a specific number and I leave that one open for destination. Solution 1: Disable secure boot Solution 2: Clean WD hard drive Solution 3: Try Acronis bootable media Solution 4: Download and run. Which is bogus because I can select every drive I want to exclude from the format and I am not selecting the destination drive. Some error about the destination drive was included in the exclusion list. I selected the drive to use and the back up to copy from and windows says it can’t do it.

I made a boot CD and even have the new and old drives. For additional assistance with driver issues please refer to Answer ID 13977: How to Install WD Drivers for Windows and macOS for External Drives. Both drives are WD, old one is a green the new one is a black caviar. So I am simply trying to clone my old C: drive from an old 320 GB 5400 rpm drive to a new 1TB 7200 rpm drive.
